Tennessee football’s wide receivers continue to be a huge plus despite a bad loss by the Volunteers over the weekend to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

A 58-21 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide is clearly a set back in what could be considered an economic recovery period for Tennessee football. However, it’s one that we all saw coming, so there was no need to panic.

Even in the loss, we saw clear indications of where the weaknesses and strengths remain. Many of them remain unchanged from the previous week, in which the Vols shockingly upset the Auburn Tigers on the road 30-24.

So as we get set to bring you our stock report this week following such a bad loss, you’re going to notice many similarities to last week’s report. Some units just continue to soar, and others are tanking to the point of what would be bankruptcy if they were a company.

Well, with the units that are failing, it’s just one of the major assets they need to dump that is holding them back. We were specific on it last week and will have to be even more specific on it this week.

To be fair, though, there are a couple of new units that have fallen off or moved up. And that is where this gets interesting. Some may actually disprove a bit of what we said last week. But what’s clear is that Tennessee football has only played one game with a fair barometer to judge them on all year, and that was indeed Auburn.

Now, with Alabama and Georgia in the rearview, they have one sure win, three toss-up games and a toss-up that leans towards a loss this week. But these are all games where we can accurately judge UT on where they stand.

Ahead of that, let’s take a look at which units are currently the strength with the season over halfway done. And let’s analyze which ones have some serious work to do. Here is our Tennessee football stock report following their Week 8 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
