Tennessee Vols football freshman Jeremy Banks switching positions in practice leads our Volunteers news for Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018.

Wednesday is here, the Alabama Crimson Tide are fully in the rearview mirror, and it’s time for the Tennessee Vols to look ahead to the South Carolina Gamecocks. That’s the good news given how bad the loss was for Jeremy Pruitt and co. last weekend. And today, our lead story is on UT practicing ahead of South Carolina.

Our updates on Rocky Top include a position change for a freshman that was noted in practice Tuesday. It’s from a guy we haven’t seen on the field recently, but it’s definitely an intriguing story worth bringing up.

In addition to the football news, we also have a preview of a match in another sport to bring you. There are also stories recognizing two separate Lady Vols soccer players, including one national award and one SEC award. Let’s get to all of that, starting with football updates.

The Tennessee Vols football team practiced again Tuesday, and the most notable part was freshman Jeremy Banks spending time at linebacker. Banks was recruited as a four-star power running back, but he’s had trouble holding onto the ball this year, which is why it made sense to try him out elsewhere.
