Tennessee football could pull off an upset on the road Saturday against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Here are five advantages for the Volunteers.

Heading into Columbia Saturday night, Tennessee football will be an underdog for the fifth straight game and the sixth time in eight games this year. Although the line is within 10 points, there is still not a lot of respect for this team heading into that night game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. It makes sense.

The Vols are 3-4 with a new head coach in Jeremy Pruitt and facing a team that has beaten them each of the last two years with a coach, Will Muschamp, who is 6-0 against them. Even if S.C. is 3-3 this year, combine those things with the fact that they are coming off a bye week, and there are plenty of reasons to bet against Rocky Top.

Tennessee football has a major uphill climb to beat the Gamecocks. Coming off a 58-21 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide that followed an exciting 30-24 road win over the Auburn Tigers, people just don’t know what to make of these guys.

However, that could work to their advantage. Saturday’s game against South Carolina favors the Vols in lots of ways that you might not think. They don’t have the same advantages they had against Auburn two weeks ago, but it’s close.

And what they may lack in advantages they had against Auburn, they could gain by playing a bit easier of a team. That’s still all up for debate, but it’s reason to believe that these guys could pull off another shocker.

But what is it that could be favoring the Vols right now? Why should we believe in them Saturday to have a chance? Could they even pull off the upset? Let’s take a look here. These are the five big advantages Tennessee football has over the South Carolina Gamecocks.
