Tennessee football’s match-up at the South Carolina Gamecocks is the headline of our Volunteers, SEC and Top 25 predictions for Week 9 of the 2018 season.

Well, Tennessee football got blown out by the Alabama Crimson Tide, and that was a game that drug all of us down on our picks as much as it drug down the Vols. We should’ve seen it coming given what Nick Saban has been doing to people all year.

However, it’s worth noting that none of us picked Tennessee to win. And we all had a little bit better than average week overall. So maybe this is the start of a new trend going forward. Here’s a recap of how we fared on our gambling picks.

Week 7 record (Record on gambling picks are tiebreakers)

Caleb Calhoun: 20-7 overall

9-0 straight-up, 11-7 gambling (5-4 ATS, 6-3 O/U)

Billy Williford: 18-9 overall

8-1 straight-up, 10-8 gambling (4-5 ATS, 6-3 O/U)

Garrett Sanders: 17-10 overall

7-2 straight-up, 10-8 gambling (4-5 ATS, 6-3 O/U)

Record on unanimous gambling picks: 5-2

As you can see, outside of Tennessee football’s game, where we all picked them to cover, we all actually would’ve made you money if you followed any of our advice. And if you stuck with our unanimous picks, you would’ve bankrupted the casino. So we’re back in business. Here’s where we stand overall now.

Overall Standings

Caleb Calhoun: 151-95 overall

71-19 straight-up, 80-76 gambling (37-41 ATS, 43-35 O/U)

Garrett Sanders: 146-100 overall

67-23 straight-up, 79-77 gambling (43-35 ATS, 36-42 O/U)

Billy Williford: 143-103 overall

70-20 straight-up, 73-83 gambling (33-45 ATS, 40-38 O/U)

Record on unanimous gambling picks: 30-34

So none of us are at that 52 percent threshold yet with gambling picks to make you money. And our unanimous picks still have some work to do. But last weekend was a step in the right direction. Now, we’ve got a huge week to get to.

The Vols face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia with a very intriguing spread. With four SEC teams on bye and none playing non-conference foes, we have five conference games to give you overall. Four of the five feature teams in the same tier or where the lower tier team is at home. On top of that, there are two games featuring Top 25 teams.

Simply put, we have a ton of excitement to bring you for this weekend, even if it’s just with seven games. Here’s where we get back on a roll. Let’s get started. These are our Tennessee football, SEC and Top 25 predictions for Week 9 of 2018.
