We’re now into our final seven days of October. And as Halloween is right around the corner, the tradition of the Tennessee Vols facing the South Carolina Gamecocks on this holiday is inching closer and closer as well.

Today’s news on Rocky Top involves more preparation for that game, as Jeremy Pruitt spoke with the media on Wednesday. The session covers lots of other news will detail that relate to personnel matters on the team.

Meanwhile, women’s basketball gets another mention as another player receives preseason national recognition. In fact, women’s sports dominates today as we also have a preview of a women’s soccer match and a recap of a volleyball match. Let’s start, though, with football.

Jeremy Pruitt speaks to media ahead of South Carolina – Grant Ramey

Tennessee Vols football head coach Jeremy Pruitt addressed the media ahead of his team’s Saturday match-up at the South Carolina Gamecocks Wednesday. Pruitt addressed a number of personnel matters. He said that Jeremy Banks asked to move to linebacker, discussed moving Carlin Fils-Aime back to running back to keep up depth, and that Trevon Flowers is still probably a couple of weeks away from playing. Dominick Wood-Anderson will be a game-time decision. Meanwhile, he said the Tennessee Vols have been “creating the right habits” in recent weeks. Here’s a bit of what else he said.

"“You see guys practicing with a purpose. I think we’ve improved in three days, which we needed to. There’s only one place for us to go right now and that’s up, and that’s good. If we practice like that every single day, we’re going to continue to improve.”"

Rennia Davis on Miller watch list – HoopHall Awards

Tennessee Lady Vols sophomore forward Rennia Davis is one of 20 candidates on the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, which goes to the top small forward in women’s basketball. The award is named after three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller.

"With tremendous grace and athletic dexterity, Miller established a legacy throughout her high school and college career that is unparalleled. Playing for Riverside (CA) Polytechnic High School, Miller set the single game record of 105 points in a 1982 game against Notre Vista High School. As a collegiate forward at the University of Southern California from 1982 to 1986, Miller helped bring women’s basketball to the forefront of American sports."

Tennessee volleyball sweeps South Carolina – Quinton Douglas, Daily Beacon

The Tennessee Lady Vols volleyball team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks Wednesday night to move to third in the SEC. With the win, they improved to 17-5 and 8-2 in the conference, while S.C. fell to 15-5 and 6-4 in the conference.

"After their pitstop at home, the Lady Vols will be back on the road for their next two matches. They next travel to Athens, Georgia on Sunday to take on the University of Georgia. Georgia is 12-8 on the season with a 3-6 record in SEC play. The first serve is set to take place at 2 p.m."

Tennessee soccer hosts Missouri – UTSports

The No. 12 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols soccer team is set for Senior Night with its home finale against the Missouri Tigers. Tennessee will honor seven seniors on the night.

"Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium, with Senior Night recognition taking place 15 minutes prior to the match. Admission and parking for all regular season matches at Regal Soccer Stadium is free of charge."
