The Vols move to 3-5 with the loss to South Carolina. It was a close game, yet still another three-point loss. Tennessee needs three wins in four games to make a bowl game.

For a slight second right before halftime, I thought the game could become lopsided, in the Vols favor. That was right after Jarrett Guarantano, and Jauan Jennings hooked up for a six-yard touchdown to put Tennessee up 14-3.

And, of course in typical Tennessee football fashion, everything changes. After scoring the touchdown, Jauan Jennings places the ball firmly on Steven Montac’s chest that draws an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that was enforced on the kickoff.

South Carolina took over with great field position which set them up for a Deebo Samuel touchdown grab right before the half. Without the mental mistake from Jennings, the Vols could have taken an 11-point game into the half. It could have changed the game entirely.

As you can see from the first photo in our gallery, Jauan Jennings looks like he completely meant to place the ball on the defender’s chest. On purpose or accident, you have to be smarter in that situation especially it being such a tight game.

There is another picture of quarterback Jarrett Guarantano getting absolutely crushed. But, what’s new? It seems to happen to the kids every single game. He has to be the toughest quarterback in the SEC, right?

Finally, we have to end and draw attention to wide receiver Marquez Callaway. There are a few photos of him in the gallery fighting for extra yards. He still hasn’t found the end zone this season but he is one of the most reliable receivers on the team. Callaway finished the game with nine receptions for 86 yards.
