Tennessee football’s running game is now on the rise in the Volunteers’ stock report following their Week 9 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

After such a close loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, you would think the Tennessee football stock is still up considering what’s happened in previous weeks. And to be fair, it certainly is in a lot of places.

But this week’s stock report for the Vols shows a lot of units that are down as well, and we have to call out those who struggled over the weekend and have struggled the last two weeks. A game against a team like South Carolina is the best barometer these guys could’ve had all year.

Sure, Tennessee football had numerous disadvantages in Columbia. But that doesn’t change the fact that a few issues kept them from overcoming those. At the same time, to be fair, them being able to almost overcome them shows rising stock in some spots.

With the Charlotte 49ers up this week, it’s safe to say that we’re going to raise the expectations this week for what we expect from each unit. It’s like raising expectations in the stock market during Christmas shopping.

Everybody should have a chance to look good on Saturday for the Vols. If something looks off, that stock will fall significantly. And that’s a dangerous place to be ahead of the final stretch run of SEC play in which Jeremy Pruitt’s team tries to make a bowl game.

What is it looking like right now with November arriving? Who is standing out on Rocky Top, and who’s got a lot of improving to do? Here’s a look at our Tennessee football stock report following the Vols’ 27-24 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road in Week 9 of 2018.
