The Vols are 3-5 on the season and most thought this is right where they would. After all, Tennessee does have one of the toughest schedules in the nation. It’s not all bad though, the Vols have the opportunity to win out and finish 7-5 on the season.
Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano bounced back after an awful Alabama game. Guarantano finished the game against the Gamecocks with 207 passing yards on 27-of-39. He also accounted for two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Talented freshman Jeremy Banks could play on both sides of the ball. Okay, that’s probably a bold prediction but if you’re the coaches why don’t you let him try if the game gets out of hand?

Charlotte is having one of their best seasons since joining the Conference USA in 2015. Their best season came in 2016 when they finished 4-8. This season they have a chance for a bowl game, but Tennessee will be their toughest opponent on the season.
The Vols need to shut down running back Benny LeMay. He has accounted for 745 rushing yards on 141 carries with six touchdowns. LeMay also is a playmaker catching the ball out of the backfield. He has 16 receptions for 256 yards and can also take it to the house.
Charlotte’s defense is no joke either. They only give up 89.8 yards on the ground per game. That ranks them sixth in the nation. The 49ers also have the nation’s leader when it comes to interceptions. Linebacker, Juwan Foggie leads the nation with six interceptions.

I don’t think this game will be close. Tennessee needs a win and I think Jeremy Pruitt have will the guys focused and ready to take care of business. 21.5 points is a lot to cover especially for an offense that doesn’t score many points and has a lousy offensive line. Tennessee 34 Charlotte 17.
