It’s hard to say this with a straight face but did the Vols do a bit overlooking this weekend? Kentucky is heading to Knoxville next weekend, and they only bring two losses on the season.

Looking ahead to the Kentucky game, are we talking about basketball? It seems a bit crazy to think that the Wildcats will be favored as the road team in Neyland Stadium.

Overlooking Charlotte or not, a win is a win, and the Vols get to 4-5 on the season. However, it was really ugly and has some fans wondering if that is the last win they will see the rest of the year.

Tennessee will have to clean up the offense if they want to play with the Cats next weekend. Here is how the Charlotte game broke down by the numbers.

244- total yards from the 49ers offense. All in all, it wasn’t a great offensive performance for Charlotte. They one scored three points and had a turnover but, they did have 52 more than Tennessee.

62- plays from the Charlotte offense. Tennessee on the other hand only ran 41. This basically shows how uninterested the Vols were playing in this game. Is it about time for the Power-Five teams to do away with these types of games? I think so.

53- receiving yards from tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson. Finally, Wood-Anderson had a game that most expected from the JUCO tight end all season. The 53 yards marks a season-high. He previous best came against UTEP when he had two receptions for 21 yards.

30- straight wins against non-power five opponents. For everything negative surrounding the Tennessee football program, there is at least one positive. The Vols don’t lose to non-power five opponents.

11- carries for freshman running back Jeremy Banks. The 11 carries were the most from any Tennessee running back and almost marked a season-high in attempts for Banks. If you’re wondering, 13 carries against East Tennessee State is his high on the season.

10- rushing yards for running back Carlin Fils-aime. This comes after a three carry game against South Carolina where he scored a touchdown and accounted for 20 yards. Maybe, Fils-aime needs a little more action?

3.4- yards per carry from Charlotte’s running back Benny LeMay. One of the bright spots for on the team LeMay rushed for 81 yards on 24 carries. During the game, I thought he was playing well, but it turns out that this is his worst performance of the year when it comes to average per rush.

3- interceptions on the season for freshman defensive back Bryce Thompson. What a player he has turned out to be on the defensive side of the ball. Along with Alontae Taylor, the defensive backfield is in good hands for years to come.

1- touchdown and the first of the season for Vols’ wide receiver Marquez Callaway. It didn’t come on a reception, but it still counts as a touchdown. Callaway took a horrible punt to the house for an 82-yard punt return touchdown.
