And just like that, reality set in for the Florida Gators. Maybe they did need some time to get back onto the national picture. Their crowning achievement is a win at home over the LSU Tigers, and LSU just got blown out at home by the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Since then, Dan Mullen’s team has suffered two straight blowout losses to the Georgia Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers. That’s coming off a bye week, by the way. So these guys are clearly a program still in transition.

Florida, as a result, belongs back in the middle of the pack for our SEC Power Rankings. Again, they have a ton of potential as a program, but as always with the spread, it’s going to take some time for that to fully take off.

The good news is these guys have a chance at a strong finish to the season. With the schedule setting up the way it does, Dan Mullen could replicate what his former boss, Urban Meyer, did in his first season in Gainesville.

Their final two games are at home against the Idaho Vandals and on the road against a Florida State Seminoles team that is completely in flux. So they should at least get eight wins. But the goal needs to be nine, as their other game is this weekend, and it’s at home against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
