No.4 – Tennessee will sweep Kentucky again

This isn’t something that usually happens. In fact, it hardly ever happens. The last time the Volunteers were able to beat the Cats in Rupp Arena was in 2006, twelve years ago. Not taking anything away from Tennessee but Kentucky wasn’t great that season.

However, Chris Lofton led all players with 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field. The great three-pointer shooter hit seven three-point shots that game to help the Vols to a 75-67 win.

But back to the sweep. The last time the Vols swept the Cats was in 1999. That happened way back when players like Vincent Yarbrough and Ron Slay wore the orange and white.

Rocky Top would be crazy if the Vols swept Kentucky again. There is something so irritating about listening to Big Blue Nation talk about Kentucky sports. For instance, hearing how good they were at football. Maybe they beat Tennessee this weekend, but they were never good enough to win the East.

The last time the Vols swept Kentucky in back-to-back season we in 1976-77 so obviously this isn’t something that happens every day. If Rick Barnes and Tennessee basketball are able to accomplish this bold prediction, they will certainly have a great year.
