Lamonte Turner – Reach the 1,000 point club

We didn’t get to see last year’s SEC 6th Man of the Year in action for the season opener. He is dealing or recovering from shoulder surgery, but don’t be alarmed that shooting motion should be just as smooth as it was in Rupp Arena last year.

If any member or Big Blue Nation is reading this, I’m sure you remember what I’m talking about. Turner rose up and drained a three-point shot that led the Vols to victory in Rupp Arena for the first time since 2006.

Turner has the talent to be starting for most SEC teams; he’s that good. However, he has found the perfect place coming off the bench. He is a spark when the offense is struggling and plays solid defense.

Someone has to do it, and Turner has thrived in his role. He finished last season averaging 10.9 points per game which was good enough for third on the team. Turner led the team in free throw shooting percentage of 88.2 and shot the three-point shot near 40 percent.

Turner is only 365 points away from the milestone. Last year he scored a total of 381 points, and I honestly believe he could be around the 425 range. With Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield set to hit the 1,000 point milestone, Turner could make them the first trio in Tennessee basketball history to reach the club in the same season.
