Tennessee basketball photo gallery: Admiral Schofield rockin’ new specs
The 2018-19 Tennessee basketball team has played three games so far this season, one being an exhibition. Here is the photo gallery from those games.
Rick Barnes has the Tennessee basketball team off to a strong start this season. Yes, it’s early, but the Vols have a winning margin of 33.5 points per game. That is not including the 87-48 win against Tusculum in the exhibition game.
The No.6 ranked Vols are playing good basketball as they get ready for the tough nonconference games ahead. One thing you’ll notice during the photo gallery is there is no Lamonte Turner. Last season’s SEC Sixth Man of the Year is nursing a shoulder injury. He should be fine, but the Vols want him 100 percent healthy.
We start the gallery with a photo of Admiral Schofield and his new specs. Honestly, they fit the senior’s personality just fine. He even made a joke after the game that the popcorn looks so clear he wanted some himself.
One of the first few photos is one of Grant Williams on the court grimacing in pain as he went down. I was at the game against Louisiana, and when Williams went down, there was a nervous silence rush over the crowd at Thompson-Boling Arena. Williams eventually came back in the game and ended up scoring 31 points.
Other photos show Yves Pons and Kyle Alexander blocking shots. Alexander leads the SEC with seven blocks and Pons is right behind him with four. Tennessee’s defense will be hard to score on if they can continue to protect the rim that well.
There is only one game on the schedule next week. The Vols host the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets on Tuesday night at 9:00 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN 2. With a win, Tennesee will move to 3-0 on the season before heading to New York to play Louisville in the NIT Season Tip-Off.
