Tennessee football: 5 Missouri Tigers to watch for against the Tennessee Volunteers
It’s hard to compete with Alabama’s quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but Drew Lock should still be considered one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. This is the third straight season the SEC has had to deal with Lock, and it’s the third straight season he is putting up really good numbers.
On the year, Lock has a 62.5 percent completion percentage, which is the best of his career and he is only 1,317 passing yards off of last season’s mark. With three games remaining he would need to throw for 439 yards per game to match last year’s 3,964 yards.
Hitting that mark would be impossible, but he should finish the season over 3,000 passing yards for the third-straight year. In fact, Lock has only been held under 200 yards passing twice this season which of course was against Alabama, and the other team was Kentucky where he threw for 165 yards.
Lock is a good quarterback, but if you had to knock some of his game, it would be his performance on the road. He has thrown a total of eight interceptions on the season, and five of them have been on the road.
If the Vols want to have a chance in this game, they have to limit Drew Lock. He has had three games with multiple turnovers so if the defensive line can cause pressure, look for the secondary to force have an interception or two.
