Todd Kelly Jr. started out very strong, and he appeared to be extremely durable. A Tennessee football legacy player, Kelly was the son of Vols defensive lineman Todd Kelly from the early 1990s. He was a four-star member of the 2014 class, and yes, that was a long time ago. As a backup and sometimes starting his first two years, the guy had three interceptions in both 2014 and 2015.

He showed himself to be a ball-hawking safety who can play physical. In 2016, Kelly came away with two more interceptions. But all the injuries on the defense forced him to do way too much. Then he missed all but the first game of 2017 and most of this season.

However, since coming back, he’s been trying to end his senior season with a bang. And he’s made some headway in doing that. The guy had 13 tackles combined against the South Carolina Gamecocks and Charlotte 49ers, and he’s been key to keeping teams honest.

Despite a weaker finish, we can’t deny eight career interceptions. Add in 167 tackles, two and a half for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and six pass deflections, and this guy has the resume to say he had a successful career on Rocky Top.
