A 50 piece left the Vols looking towards next week’s matchup against Vanderbilt to get bowl eligible. Here is how the game broke down by the numbers.

Only a week after riding high with a win against the No.11 ranked Kentucky Wildcats; the Tennessee football team got utterly embarrassed by Missouri. Look, we knew that Missouri was a better team than Kentucky. Or at least, I did, and the Tigers proved it Saturday with a balanced offensive attack.

The Vols held firm in the first quarter by limiting Missouri to field goals down in the red zone. However, that didn’t last long as the defense and the offensive line got whipped all game long. It also didn’t help backup quarterback Keller Chryst threw two interceptions.

It wasn’t pretty for Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols, but now their attention has to be on the Commodores to get to six wins. Here is how the Missouri game broke down by the numbers.

257- passing yards from Missouri’s quarterback Drew Lock. That gives him three straight games with at least 250 yards through the air. The 257 passing yards ranks for fifth most on the season.

173- passing yards from Keller Chryst. As bad as his performance was we have to mention the 173 yards because it was his highest total of the season. But, arguably his worst performance as well.

135- rushing yards from Larry Rountree III. This was arguably the best performance of the year for the sophomore running back. He added one touchdown on 26 total carries.

50- points from the Missouri Tigers in back-to-back seasons against the Vols. This series has been lopsided the past two season with an overall score of 100-34 in Missouri’s favor.

49- receiving yards per reception for Vols’ wide receiver Marquez Callaway. That average was the most for either team and the most of his career.

4- receivers caught a pass for Tennessee compared to the ten for Missouri. Keller Chryst only completed passes to four different receivers which marks the lowest on the season.

2- inceptions for backup quarterback Keller Chryst. I think it was clear why he hasn’t been playing all season, although there are seem some that think he is better than Jarrett Guarantano. Here is a stat for you. Guarantano has attempted 170 more passes than Chryst, and both guys have thrown the same amount of interceptions.

Next. 5 takeaways from Vols loss to Missouri. dark

This is a game for Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols to forget. Burn the film and move on. Tennessee travels to Nashville to take on the Commodores. The Vols have to win the game next week to get to six wins on the season and a chance to go bowling.
