Tennessee football had very few positives in its 50-17 loss to the Missouri Tigers. Here are the Volunteers grades against Mizzou.
After a brilliant performance a week ago, Tennessee football appeared to fail in ever aspect of the game in its blowout loss to the Missouri Tigers. It was an ugly affair, particularly in the second half, when they had a chance to make this a game.
The Vols looked like they’d be able to compete early, even after an injury to Jarrett Guarantano, but then they made mistake after mistake on offense while the defense couldn’t stop anybody. It was disastrous all the way around.
Simply put, there weren’t a lot of positives to hand out in Tennessee football’s brutal loss on Saturday. A few players did play hard, but they all made mistakes, and the deficiencies on the Vols came through more than ever.
As we get set to dish out our grades for UT after this game, fair warning that it’s not going to be a pretty sight. Nobody really earned anything decent on the offensive or defensive sides of the ball, and that’s going to be reflected here.
All we can point to is who looked worse. Now, to be fair, key injuries may have played a role in this to a degree. But there were also usual suspects who struggled beyond comprehension, and that’s something that needs to be fixed.
A couple of minor bright spots were able to be found in this game, and we’ll mention those too. So it wasn’t all bad. However, it mostly was, and there’s now a lot to be concerned out heading into UT’s final showdown with the Vanderbilt Commodores to get to a bowl game.
So let’s go ahead and give out the miserable grades from Saturday’s performance. Brace yourself for some extremely harsh criticism. This is our report card for Tennessee football’s play in their loss to the Missouri Tigers.
