Earlier in the season, I thought this game would be closer than the 26.5 spread suggest. Clemson should have lost to the Aggies, but since then they have totally dominated the schedule. It’s hard to say they don’t deserve to be the second-ranked team in the nation but I don’t think they cover this game.
Clemson is at home, but Will Muschamp has both sides of the ball playing better. His defenses are always tough to play against, and the offense is coming around. I can see this game going a couple of different ways, but I have Clemson in a closer game.

The South Carolina Gamecocks have a lot less pressure on them thanks to their win over Tennessee football. However, that game probably generates some concern about how they can fare against good teams. And on Saturday, they face the No. 2 ranked team in the nation and their arch-rival. Conventional wisdom says go with the Clemson Tigers, and I agree.
But even though Clemson is at home, I don’t have them covering. They’ve struggled with multiple teams this year, and South Carolina is going to give everything it’s got in this one. As a result, I’ve got Will Muschamp’s offense coming through to make this a game for a little while. The over/under is the hardest line in this one, but I’ve got it just hitting the under in a coin flip.

This rivalry game is much underrated and is not talked about enough. The hate between these two schools is unreal. For South Carolina, this game is their Playoff game. Unfortunately for the Gamecocks, they won’t be able to enjoy playing at the comfort of their own home stadium. Instead they will have to go to hostile territory and try and steal the victory over the Tigers. For Clemson, this game should not be taken lightly. This South Carolina offense can score points in a hurry.
On paper, Clemson is way more talented. The offense Clemson has with their quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the helm is very exciting to watch. Add an excellent running game to that as well. The Gamecocks will have a very difficult time stopping this Clemson offense from scoring. The difference will be the Clemson front seven against South Carolina’s offensive line. You will see Jake Bentley being pressured all game long in this matchup. This will lead to many three-and-outs and that will result in Clemson taking the lead and never looking back. Overall, the Tigers will eat the Gamecocks for dinner. This won’t be close.
