No. 11 Florida Gators at Florida State Seminoles

Saturday, Nov. 24 at Noon E.T.; Doak Campbell Stadium; Tallahassee, Fla.

TV: ABC; Line: Florida -5.5; Over/Under: 52

Billy Williford

Florida State does appear to be playing better football. But, the 5.5-line might be a little too small for me. The Seminoles have struggled under Willie Taggart most of the season, but they are coming off a win against Boston College.

The Gators lost back-to-back games to Georiga and Missouri. They barely got past South Carolina so who knows that Florida team is going to show up. However, I like the Gators by at least a touchdown.

Don’t sleep on this game. Yes, the Florida Gators are much better overall. And the Florida State Seminoles have been having the same struggles under Willie Taggart that Tennessee football had against UF specifically under Jeremy Pruitt: They’re still learning this new system. However, Florida State just scored a huge win over the Boston College Eagles.

Now, the Seminoles are at home with a chance to upset their rival and reach a bowl game. It’s kind of crazy to think about, but they have a chance for a solid finish to the year. It won’t come. Florida is not a fluke like BC is, so they’re going to control this game in Tallahassee. Their offense is rolling right now, and they’ll cover in this one.

Florida State’s bowl streak at 36 consecutive years is on the line this weekend. Win and they’re in. Lose and they’re out. Going against one of their most hated foes, you know the Seminoles will come out with all the things possible to give the Gators headaches about during this game. Meanwhile fir Florida, a win here could possibly mean a trip to a New Year’s Six Bowl. Either way you look at it, both of these teams have something meaningful to be playing for.

While Florida State is coming off a huge win against Boston College just a week ago, they’re facing a pretty tall task against the Gators to get a win. Florida’s defense will come out and ball out. They do this week in week out. For Florida State, they will have a tough time moving the ball against this Florida defense. I also believe that Florida’s offense will struggle as well. Definitely take the under in this game. It will be a defensive slugfest at its finest. But it will be one the Gators will be victorious in.
