Tennessee basketball photo gallery: Vols rock throwback uniforms vs. Louisville
The Tennessee basketball team got a huge win in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off against Louisville. Here is the photo gallery from the game.
Tennessee basketball moves to 4-0 on the season, but it didn’t come without a fight from the scrappy Louisville Cardinals. It was a close game for the most part. Late in the second half, the Vols pulled ahead by 15, and that was just too much for Louisville to overcome.
It was a night for milestones for Tennessee. Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield surpassed the 1,000 point marks in their career. This was the first time since the 2013-14 season when Jordan McRae and Jarnell Stokes reached the milestone in the same season. Lamonte Turner has an opportunity to join the club this season as well. If so, it would mark the first time in Tennessee basketball history that a trio reached 1,000 points in the same season.
Head coach Rick Barnes also moved up in the record books with the win. Barnes got win 664 of his career which moves him past the hall of fame coach John Wooden. Here is the photo gallery from the game.
As you can see from the gallery, there was a lot of tough defense being played despite the high scoring affair. In the first picture, Kyle Alexander loses the ball after a double team came crashing in on him. Alexander went a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and finished with seven points, six rebounds, and three blocks.
There’s one picture in the gallery showing Grant Williams take over the game. Williams scored 24 points giving him three straight games with over 20 points. Admiral Schofield also joined Williams with 20 points in the game.
The Vols turn their attention to the number two ranked Kansas Jayhawks. The game will be on Friday night at 9:00 pm ET.
