Tennessee football did not finish the 2018 season the way they would have hoped. But the Volunteers did have many memorable plays on the year.

Suffering a losing record has been nothing new for Tennessee football this decade. The Vols missed out on a bowl for the fifth time in eight years and suffered their sixth losing season in nine years to close out 2018.

However, just like the previous years, even bad seasons came with a couple of exciting moments. In fact, with maybe the exception of the 2008 and 2017 seasons, you’d have a hard time not finding somewhere between five and 10 plays that brought impressive memories.

So as we continue with our 2018 Tennessee football season recap, it shouldn’t be a surprise that we didn’t have a lot of trouble finding some of those top plays. Most of the time, the usual suspects were responsible for delivering them. You know, the guys who consistently made our list of Smokey Point winners on the year would deliver these.

As we get set to count down the most memorable plays of the season for the Vols, know that these don’t change the embarrassment of the year. A 5-7 record with six losses by 25 or more points is still a huge negative and shows that this program has a ton of work to do.

This list just reminds everybody that there were some pleasant moments for Rocky Top. Our criteria include how exciting the play itself was, the role it played in determining the outcome of a game, and the magnitude of the game it occurred in. Sometimes, the final two things didn’t apply at all, but the play itself was just that exciting.

All of these plays were enjoyable for Vols fans when they happened. So let’s go ahead and take another positive trip down Memory Lane from this past year. These are the top 10 plays of the 2018 Tennessee football season.
