9. Ty Chandler 81 yard touchdown run vs. UTEP

Ty Chandler had lots of big runs on the year and beautiful touchdowns. The speedy running back proved he’s the Vols’ best playmaker, and while Tim Jordan was the stable and consistent back, Chandler was the most fun.

On the season, Chandler had a 75-yard touchdown run against the Vanderbilt Commodores and also became the first running back in Vols history to have a touchdown reception in three straight games, doing it against the Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. But it’s against the UTEP Miners that we’re mentioning a top 10 play. Why?

Well, one of the rules of memorable plays are when there’s a huge gain. And the longest play of the year has to be on there. That’s what this was for Tennessee football. It was the only one to go over 80 yards.

This was also an important play with in the scope of the game. The Vols were looking ugly against UTEP in the first half. Up 10-0, they needed an offensive spark to start the second half. Chandler, fortunately for them, was able to provide just that.

With his 81-yard touchdown run, he put the Vols in control to make sure they wouldn’t blow a game against UTEP. And they did just that, winning 24-0. There was lots of ugliness in this game, but Chandler’s run was a highlight…literally. So of all his speedy runs, this is the one that makes the list for the 2018 season.
