The game was Jeremy Pruitt’s first win of his career as head coach of the Tennessee football team, and it was the Vols first win of the season. Let’s be honest; everyone knew the outcome of this game before it started.

Tennessee started off the game with a 26-yard Brett Cimaglia field goal followed by a blocked punt by Marquill Osborne to give the Vols a 10-0 lead to end the first quarter. The blocked punt was one of the most exciting plays of the season even if it was against ETSU. Tennessee never makes plays on special teams, so it was nice to see Osborne make the play.

Tennessee kept their foot on the gas as they scored 28 points in the second quarter in large part thanks to running back Jeremy Banks. He scored the first two touchdowns of the quarter on short yardage runs near the goal line.

Even linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. got involved in the mix with a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown to extend the lead 31-0. It wasn’t the best win, but it wasn’t the worst either. Everyone expected Tennessee to handle the Buccaneers with ease and that’s what they did.
