I can’t even believe I’m saying this but beating Kentucky was the Vols best win of the season. It just seems weird ranking the win against the Wildcats as the best, but that’s where we are in college football.

Kentucky came into Neyland Stadium ranked No.11 in the nation and the Vols completely dominated the game. The Wildcats were one dimensional on offense all season long, and it showed as Tennessee won 24-7.

A lot was riding on the game, Kentucky hadn’t won a game in Neyland Stadium since 1984. President Ronald Reagan was in the White House if that tells you how long it’s been. Furthermore, Kentucky hadn’t had back-to-back wins in the rivalry since the 1976-77 seasons.

All things considered, it was a big win for Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols. Kentucky once again realizes they will never be as good as Tennessee and it helped Tennessee get to five wins, something they desperately needed to do.

There is a saying around Knoxville that fans tend to always say about beating teams, “if it doesn’t happen this season, it’s never going to happen.” I think that applies to Kentucky if they were ever going to beat the Vols it was going to be last season.
