Tennessee Volunteers (10-12) @ Kentucky Wildcats (22-1)

February 1, 2012 – Lexington, Kentucky

Another game against Kentucky and another loss for the Vols. Another bad loss. This game was a tad bit different, and yet the outcome was the same. The Vols had a better roster with guys like Jarnell Stokes, Josh Richardson, Trae Golden, and Jordan McRae.

The only problem was, the Cats had the first two 2012 NBA draft picks on their roster in Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Both Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist ended up being the difference makers in the game. Davis led all players with 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was closing in on a triple-double with seven blocks welcoming Vols’ Jarnell Stokes to the college game.

Kidd-Gilchrist added 16 points and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. He caused problems all game long getting to the rack and getting the Vols in foul trouble.

Surprising, Renaldo Woolridge scored 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. He had games where he couldn’t miss and then there were those games where he couldn’t hit the rim. However, despite his hot shooting the Vols still couldn’t play spoiler.
