Tennessee football is still in search for an offensive coordinator. Here are five possible reasons the Volunteers could be taking so long to make the hire.

Being in week 3 after the end of the season and still having no offensive coordinator to replace Tyson Helton could be a bit of a concern for Tennessee football. After all, it didn’t take them this long to even find a head coach after the end of last season.

However, it’s also worth noting that assistant coach hires are not the same as head coach hires. And in fact, almost all of the Vols coordinator hires in the past came in January or February, so there’s no reason for Rocky Top to panic yet.

Jeremy Pruitt has plenty of time to get the right guy for his system, and there are plenty of other things for him to worry about. But you do wonder at this point, what is taking so long for Tennessee football to get it’s guy?

The answer could be good or bad, depending on how you want to twist it. Some people are saying that all that’s left is ironing out the details. Others are panicking that the search is a dumpster fire. Nobody knows really what’s going on.

We know that Pruitt likes to keep things close to the vest, and with so much movement going on elsewhere, he could have something totally different up his sleeve. It’s also worth noting that the program is about the coach, not his assistants. If you believe in Pruitt don’t worry too much about his staff.

But no matter what, the Vols will obviously have a replacement for Helton to start next year. So why the wait? What is the holdup on Rocky Top to announce the next staff change? Let’s take a look at what might be going on. These are the five potential reasons for Tennessee football not yet finding an offensive coordinator.
