3. Will Darnell Wright commit early?

No commitment would be better for Tennessee football in 2019 than Darnell Wright. But whatever happens with him remains a mystery. It’s been good news for the Vols for a while with his trends despite no actual movement.

According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, the Vols are the overwhelming favorite to land the five-star offensive tackle. Getting him along with Wanya Morris, who is set to sign this weekend, sets up the Vols offensive line for the future in a way like never before.

Initially, Wright, a 6’6″ 300-pound prospect out of Huntington, W. Va., was going to commit during the regular National Signing Day. But there is now a great chance that he could commit to the Vols during the early signing period.

Wright took another unofficial visit to the Vols recently, and at this point, it could be hard to see him going somewhere else. As a result, if he doesn’t like the recruiting process, there’s a chance he shuts it all down this week.

Doing that would give the Vols a much-needed boost. It would be a huge splash for them and get them back in top 5 contention for 2019. Wright joins Quavaris Crouch as the two wildcard individuals to specifically pay attention to.

The difference, though, is Wright is higher rated over all as a recruit, and there’s an off-chance he commits this week. It’s also true that he’s going to a position in much more need of help at this moment. That makes him a bigger storyline.
