The No. 9 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols host the No. 8 Stanford Cardinal Tuesday. Here is the women’s basketball Volunteers’ preview for the game.

After an eight-day rest following their biggest win over the season over the No. 12 ranked Texas Longhorns on the road, the Tennessee Lady Vols return home for another huge Top 25 test. This time, Holly Warlick’s team will host the No. 8 ranked Stanford Cardinal.

Stanford is 7-1 with their only loss by six points to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. However, following that loss, they shocked the No. 3 ranked Baylor Bears 68-63 at home last Saturday, and they are taking that momentum into Rocky Top.

That win has this team ranked at No. 8, one spot ahead of the Tennessee Lady Vols, who are currently undefeated at 8-0. Should they win this game, they have a chance to move in the Top 5 before next week’s rankings come out. Here is all the information you need for Tuesday night’s matchup in this rivalry.

Right now, Tennessee has three wins over Power Five teams this year and two that could reasonably be considered quality wins, at Texas and against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Clemson Tigers are their other Power Five win.

However, their current strength of schedule sits at No. 107 in the RPI, which makes this game hugely important. A win would earn this young Tennessee Lady Vols team some serious respect and prove there’s no drop-off after the losses of Mercedes Russell and Jaime Nared.

Evina Westbrook has been the one to pick up the slack so far this year, and she’s broken 20 points in three straight games. Meanwhile, Meme Jackson has been red-hot from three, and Cheridene Green has scored double figures in four of eight games this year. If all three of these players show up and do their job throughout the year, this team could be very special. It could also lead to victory tonight against Stanford.
