The Tennessee basketball team is one of the best teams in the nation and will draw everyone’s best shot. Here are five SEC players to watch for this season.

In recent year’s the SEC hasn’t been known as a basketball conference. They’ve only been okay and relevant in the national spotlight thanks to Kentucky, but they haven’t been great. However, that gap is closing. Just last season many people argued the SEC was the best conference in the nation thanks to the rise of Auburn and Tennessee.

Just five short years ago, the SEC only received three bids to the big dance. That was four teams less than the nation-leading seven bids from the Big 12. In 2016, much of the same applied only it wasn’t just the Big 12 leading the way; every other Power Five conference received seven bids as well. The SEC only had three.

Last season was a different story though. Thanks to Tennessee and I guess we will give Auburn credit as well; the SEC received the second most bids with eight only behind the ACC with nine.

The conference isn’t as good this season, at least I don’t think it is, yet. Yes, it’s still early, but I don’t believe the conference will reach eight bids again this season. If I were to predict right now, I would say five teams receive bids which include, Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and LSU.

However, there are a few teams that could easily make a run and receive bids. ESPN’s bracketology expert, Joe Lunardi, has the SEC received six bids for the big dance. Florida is the only team we disagree on at the moment.

In this post, we will break down five players that could cause havoc for the Vols this season. It’s not reasonable to think Tennessee will go undefeated in the SEC so here are five players that could help lead their teams to victory.
