Tennessee basketball: 5 SEC players that could cause havoc for the Vols
The first senior to make our list, Quinndary Weatherspoon from Mississippi State is a special talent for Ben Howland and the Bulldogs.
Last season, Mississippi State was a scrappy bunch, and they appear to be even better this year with the leadership of Weatherspoon. The senior guard is averaging 17.2 points per game by shooting close to 50 percent from the field. He’s increased both his three-point and free-throw shooting percentages.
Last season against the Vols Weatherspoon put together two really good games. He scored 17 points in both games by shooting a combined 12-of-27 from the field with ten rebounds.
We wouldn’t be shocked if Weatherspoon keeps his scoring output around the same or even increases it to around 20.
The only area where Weatherspoon struggles a bit is his shot from the three-point line. He is only attempting around 3.8 a game with a percentage hanging around 32 percent. If Weatherspoon can improve his deep range jumper to around 38 percent, he could win the SEC Player of the Year, that’s if the Bulldogs continue to have a successful year.
