Jordan Murphy is a wild card when it comes to how Jim Chaney can mix up the Tennessee football offense. But when it comes to what guys can do with the ball in their hands, Marquez Callaway provides a major advantage there too.

Callaway may not be the fastest guy, but he’s incredibly shifty. And he can leap up and catch the ball, so those two three things make up for whatever he may lack in route running. That’s just fine for Chaney because, as we said, he likes to get the ball into the hands of athletes.

The most notable example of this was Cordarrelle Patterson in 2012. Callaway and Murphy combined would make a Patterson, but since they each bring specific skills, Chaney can use both of them. This isn’t to say big receivers like Jauan Jennings won’t benefit as well. But Callaway and Murphy are likely to see a spike in production.

We know that Callaway is physical and aggressive. And in the open field, he knows how to take the right angle and make the right cuts to get as many yards as possible. So under Chaney, Callaway may finally reach his full potential as a senior.
