Tennessee football has lots of issues that are cause for worry about its future under Jeremy Pruitt. Here are five offseason concerns about the Volunteers.

Even after the coup of hiring Jim Chaney combined with a few recruiting success that have happened recently, it’s not all roses for Tennessee football during this offseason. Plenty of things could give you cause to pause.

Based on what happened in 2018, there are numerous reasons for concern about the 2019 Vols. These things existed right as the season ended, and the hire of Chaney really just alleviated an extra concern.

Remember, this is a team that went 5-7 and lost six games by 25 or more points last year. So no matter how you splice it, Tennessee football is still not in a good place based on actual results. They haven’t been for three years.

And no amount of returning starters, easy schedule, splash coaching hires, or young stars is going to be enough to change that. The only way you can fix it is by seeing things turn around on the field when they matter.

Even ahead of that, there are exterior concerns facing the team. In this post, we’re going to break those down. This isn’t to say that our talk of encouragement is not valid. Both things can be true in Knoxville right now.

The Vols can have a collection of things that are cause for excitement AND a collection of things that are cause to pause. One doesn’t negate the other, even if some of the talking points are incredibly similar.

This is all just about raising a slight alarm to people so they know there are still things that could hurt the program. So which issues are we referring to? What is troubling enough for the program right now under Jeremy Pruitt? These are the five biggest concerns surrounding the Tennessee football program this offseason.
