No.1 – Vols could be/should be a the top of the AP Poll

Let the debate begin.

Who should be No.1 in the nation? Duke had a roller coaster week. On Monday night an unranked Syracuse team went into Cameron Indoor and upset the No.1 ranked Blue Devils. However, they did bounce back on Saturday with a win against No.4 Virginia. Syracuse was Duke’s second loss of the season, remember they lost to Gonzaga in the Championship Game of the Maui Invitational.

Michigan was the No.2 team in the rankings when they took on an unranked Wisconsin team. Michigan was 17-0 and had every right to argue they were the best team in the land. However, Wisconsin took them down, and the game wasn’t even close.

light. Related Story. Looking at last 5 seasons Vols were in top 5

Then, there is Tennessee who just keeps winning. As we all know their last loss was to Kansas back in November. And, it could be argued that other than Virginia, the Vols have the “best” loss in the country.

I know, the ultimate goal is to be No.1 at the end of the season but how sweet would it be for everyone involved in the Tennessee basketball program to have that No.1 beside their name?

Sweet it would be, these guys have come such a long way and deserve all the praise. So what, if they lose next week, being No.1, even it’s just for one game, is an accomplishment that can’t be taken away.
