The Tennessee basketball team recently received the No.1 ranking for the second time in program history. Here is the latest bracketology update to support that.

Rick Barnes and the Tennessee basketball team are the No.1 team in the nation for the second time in program history. As we all well know the first time was in the 2007-08 season when they beat the Memphis Tigers in an in-state showdown.

The Vols are riding a 12-game winning streak that started before Thanksgiving and includes wins over Gonzaga, Memphis, Florida, and Alabama.

As always we want to keep you up to date with all the bracketology, and We begin with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s projections which were updated January 21, 2019. You can find the entire bracket projection here.

Tennessee is still holding on to the top seed in the Midwest region. The other number one seeds include Duke (East), Virginia (South), and Michigan State (West). The Spartans replace Michigan as a No.1 seed from last week.

Rounding out the top-four seeds in the Midwest region are Michigan (2), Virginia Tech (3), and Houston (4). There is only one other SEC school in the Vols region which is the Florida Gators as the 12th seed.

Lunardi has a total of seven SEC schools which include Tennessee, LSU, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Florida, Auburn, and Ole Miss.

CBS Sport’s Jerry Palm’s latest update was January 20, 2019. You can find the entire bracket projection here.

Palm has the Vols as a No.1 seed but in the South region. Duke and Virginia stay on the top lines, and despite Michigan’s loss to Wisconsin, they keep the No.1 seed.

The other top seeds in the South region are Kansas (2), Maryland (3), Nevada (4). With a win in the first round, Tennessee would play either Mississippi State or Indiana in the Round of 32. Palm on the other hand only has six SEC teams in the big dance, leaving out the Florida Gators.

Unless an absolute fall apart happens, it’s safe to say Tennessee will continue to receive top seeds as long as they keep winning.
