Looking ahead

After playing in front of a sold-out Thompson-Boling Arena, the Vols take to the road for back-to-back away games against South Carolina and Texas A&M.

First up is a test in Columbia, South Carolina against the Gamecocks on Tuesday night. South Carolina sits at 10-9 on the season but 5-1 in conference play. They’ve had a few miserable losses like the 20-point defeat to Wofford or the nine-point loss to Wyoming who is 5-15 on the season.

Even so, Frank Martin will have his Gamecocks ready to pull the upset. Last season, they had Tennessee beat both games but failed to pull out a victory. Could this year be different?

In the second game, the Vols travel to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday night. Billy Kennedy’s club isn’t off to their best start just 1-5 in conference play, and 8-10 on the season. However, the Aggies do have wins over Alabama and Kansas State in the past five games.

If Tennessee can win the next two games, they would extend their winning streak to 16 games and have a perfect record (8-0) halfway through the conference slate.

Back-to-back roads game is never an easy task, especially in the SEC. However, Tennessee should have another 2-0 week, but as we saw against Vanderbilt, anything can happen.
