The Tennessee Lady Vols will look to start a winning streak Thursday against the Florida Gators. Here is our preview for the women’s basketball Volunteers.

After a six-game losing streak, the Tennessee Lady Vols got back on track by beating the LSU Tigers Sunday night. Now, they will look to continue that turnaround and start a winning streak with another home match-up against the Florida Gators.

As Holly Warlick’s team enters the final game of a four-game home stand, they will look to improve on their 13-7 and 2-5 SEC record. Lucky for them, Florida is the perfect team to do that with. They have the worst overall record among SEC at 5-15 and are tied with the Vanderbilt Commodores for the worst SEC record at 1-5.

But, they did beat the Missouri Tigers, a team the Lady Vols weren’t able to put away. And that 5-15 record comes after an 0-6 start. They’ve shown improvement since then, so UT, given its play this year, can’t count these guys out. Here is all the information you need for the game.

After Florida, the Tennessee Lady Vols begin a two-game road trip that includes the other worst team in the SEC and then the best team in the SEC. They’ll face the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday and then have a week off before facing the Mississippi State Bulldogs the next Sunday.

The good news for them is that Vanderbilt gives them a chance to get to 15-7 and 4-5 in the SEC, closing the gap on that horrendous start. However, again, nothing is a given with this team. And they have to think about getting past a team even as bad as Florida first.

With the No. 27 ranked strength of schedule, the Tennessee Lady Vols are No. 47 in the RPI, meaning they are firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble. And these next two games won’t help them much. As a result, they have to win them just to stay afloat. So even with their abysmal record, Florida is a critical game.
