New Orleans Saints. Jabari Greer. 7. player. 15. . Cornerback

Super Bowl XLIV

New Orleans Saints: 31

Indianapolis Colts: 17

It’s hard to gauge the success of a cornerback in a game because of the fact that they are often at their best when they’re racking up no stats. Such is the case with Jabari Greer. But he did his part with the New Orleans Saints to help them win the Super Bowl.

Greer was part of a collection of track stars who played for Tennessee football in the early 2000s. But he’s well-known more for his play on the football field. The Saints signed him as an unrestricted free agent before the 2009 season, and he played opposite Tracy Porter. Together, the two were key to this Super Bowl run.

In the Super Bowl, Porter became the star with the pick-six on Peyton Manning. But Greer did his job on the other side. He racked up three tackles and had solid coverage throughout the second half of the game.

Greer did allow some big plays to Pierre Garcon. But outside of a touchdown pass in the first half, none of them ended up being consequential. And he managed to get in Garcon’s head as well, which caused Garcon to drop what would have been a game-clinching catch in the first half given the momentum of the game. So he deserves credit for his play.
