Former Vol is quietly earning his place in the NBA balling out for the Washington Wizards. He just dropped a 20 piece against the Hawks.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Former Vol Jordan McRae is a baller. The guy has always been able to score the basketball, and now he’s getting it done in the NBA for the Washington Wizards.

Since John Wall’s injury in late December the Wizards have been trying what seems like anything and everything to stay afloat. In fact, Washington is playing better without Wall, but they haven’t been getting much out of their bench until they turned to Jordan McRae.

Last Tuesday, McRae only saw eight minutes of action but scored 15 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from the three-point line.

His swell play presented him with additional minutes against the Pacers where he racked up 26 minutes and scored 12 points. McRae shot 50 percent from the field, including another perfect 2-for-2 from deep. Remember at Tennessee, McRae was hard to stop, and he scored in bunches. Once he got going, good luck trying to stop him.

Monday night in a tightly contested game against the Atlanta Hawks, McRae registered 20 points on 8-for-11 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from deep.

The past four games, McRae has scored a combined 56 points while shooting 70.7 percent from the floor, and 79.2 percent from the three-point line.

It’s tough to tell if McRae is NBA ready. His defense isn’t the best against elite talent, but one thing is for sure, the guy can score the basketball.

The Wizards are tied with the Orlando Magic for the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference, and John Wall is out with a season-ending injury. Let’s be honest, Washington doesn’t have a chance to win a championship.

Next. Vols still No.1 and breaking records in this week review. dark

However, they do have a chance to make the season respectable and slide into a higher seed for the playoffs. If I’m Scott Brooks I’m playing McRae at least 30 minutes a game, what’s it going to hurt?
