Another athlete, Jeremy Pruitt has a direct connection to JD Martin through the Wetumpka pipeline. But he will have to fight off the Florida Atlantic Owls, who have a pipeline through Lane Kiffin. And then there are the Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Kentucky Wildcats making a play for him.

Tennessee football is the only program to be in the SEC and have that pipeline that is in play for him, however. That’s a huge advantage, even if other schools appear to be the favorite to land him at this point.

A steal would be great for the Vols, though. Martin plays quarterback but is an athlete at 5’10” 179 pounds. On Rocky Top, he would likely convert to wide receiver and spend a year learning the ropes, but that’s similar to what Jauan Jennings did.

To be fair, Jennings is so much bigger that Martin better fits the mold of a guy like Cedrick Wilson. He could turn into a reliable hands guy, which the Vols don’t really have in their offensive system right now anyway. As a result, here is another guy the Vols would be very glad to steal away, but it’s going to be difficult.
