Tennessee football: Vols top 5 needs to fill National Signing Day 2019
2. Safety
Nigel Warrior did not live up to his billing his first year as safety in Jeremy Pruitt’s system. However, the Tennessee football legacy player has a chance to rectify that his senior year after a full season working in the system.

The problem, though, is that the Vols just lost Todd Kelly Jr. and Micah Abernathy and are having to completely reload at the position. On top of that, only Trevon Flowers, outside of Warrior, has any significant experience at the position on the team right now.
Right now, Jeremy Pruitt has only secured two signees who could potentially play safety. One is athlete Aaron Beasley, a three-star out of Franklin, Ga., and the other is four-star Jaylen McCullough out of Powder Springs, Ga.
However, again, Flowers is the only guy with experience at the position who won’t for sure be gone by 2020. And he may be needed at nickel or cornerback in the future. So this position is completely wide open, and only two players have signed so far.
Pruitt will be targeting athletes, like we named in guys like Alante Brown and JD Martin, who could still play the position, though. Then there’s Cameron Wynn, a three-star who decommitted but could, on an outside chance, recommit. And he’s trying to make a last minute push for four-star Jammie Robinson.
But the major move is three-star Anthony Harris. The Havelock, N.C. prospect is committed to Rocky Top but hasn’t yet signed and is being targeted heavily by his home state school of the North Carolina Tar Heels under Mack Brown. So although he is committed, it is crucial for Jeremy Pruitt to close this deal. If he doesn’t, and if he can’t pick off any of the other guys, the position will be in disastrous shape for the future.
