Tennessee football recruiting still has a lot of work to do ahead of National Signing Day 2019. Here are our five big predictions on the Volunteers’ class.

For the second straight year, Tennessee football enters National Signing Day under Jeremy Pruitt after a very positive early signing period. However, last year, Signing Day was underwhelming despite what happened in December.

Could the same happen this February for the Vols after a full year of recruiting? Well, it’s possible. Despite having a Top 10 class at different times throughout the past year, Rocky Top is entering the week of Signing Day with a class in the middle of the pack in the SEC while still being in the Top 20 nationally with 21 commitments and 19 signees.

To be fair, Pruitt had to know that would be an issue. Last year was his first ever as a head coach, and he went 5-7 with Tennessee football. As a result, it’s safe to say he’s going to have a harder time selling his program to recruits.

Still, the Vols have a chance to load up in specific areas and address major needs. But what is actually going to happen on Wednesday? After all, the moves high school kids make can be extremely unpredictable.

What’s clear, though, is the success of recruits is harder to predict than what they’ll do a day ahead of the deadline to sign with a team. Too much research has been done by recruiting experts on them up to that point.

We can say the same here. Although it’s still hard to know who’s going to work out and who won’t, the Vols have a lot of things set to happen that make it pretty easy to predict how some parts of Wednesday will go. And we’re going to use our knowledge of things that have happened so far to make those predictions.

These predictions involve commitments potentially flipping, some not committing to the Vols, and where things will stand when it’s all said and done. Again, the focus is what they do after they sign, but this is still a big deal.

So while we don’t know for sure exactly what’s going to happen on Wednesday, it’s time to go ahead and make some picks. These are our five bold predictions for Tennessee football recruiting on National Signing Day 2019.
