2. Darnell Wright and Kenney Solomon will be their top two targets to commit.

There may not be many splash moves for Tennessee football, but they will have two key guys commit. And both will be great commitments for the Vols and their future, with one building immediate depth and one potentially providing immediate help.

  • For the immediate depth prospect, Kenney Solomon is a three-star cornerback out of Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Vols are the most high-profile school recruiting him, but he’s a diamond in the rough type of guy who could make a surprise impact.

With Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor the cornerbacks of the future for the Vols, Solomon is likely not to start there. But he will provide depth and a chance to be the nickel guy at 6’0″ 170 pounds. All forecasts have the Vols as a favorite to land him, which is great news for Jeremy Pruitt and his staff.

Meanwhile, Darnell Wright is the star of the group. He’s the guy the Vols have been waiting for to commit since last summer, and he will join Wanya Morris as the two lead a loaded offensive line class on Rocky Top.

A five-star offensive tackle out of Huntington High School in Huntington, W. Va., Wright is already 6’6″ and 300 pounds. He’s your once in a blue moon type of tackle who could make an immediate impact, which is huge for a team that had a horrendous offensive line last year.

The Vols may miss out on a lot of the guys they wanted with their 2019 class, but Wright and Solomon will be great pickups to close the recruiting season. They’ll make National Signing Day a success despite the numerous setbacks we predict are going to happen.
