Tons of news is surrounding the Tennessee Vols at this very moment. Recruiting and another huge basketball game are the major stories for this Wednesday, but believe it or not, neither are the top story for us.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with spring ball, and we’ll get to all the details of those right off the bat. Hey, with the Super Bowl over, looking ahead to spring in any way is what we all live for, isn’t it?

But we’ll also recap another men’s basketball game and begin our coverage of the final day of recruiting. And we’ll have another story to bring you about a random player who just joined the program. So let’s dive in, starting with the spring.

Spring football dates set – UTSports

The Tennessee Vols football team has set its spring practice dates. Spring ball will begin on Thursday, March 7, and it will end with the Orange and White game on Saturday, April 13. The game will be at 6 p.m. and televised on SEC Network.

"Admission is FREE for the Orange and White Game presented by Chevrolet and gates will open at 4:30 p.m.Tennessee’s family-friendly pregame tailgate at Vol Village will open at 3 p.m. in Lot 9 (directly west of Neyland Stadium) and will feature music, face painting, photo opportunities with Smokey and the Spirit Squad, food vendors, inflatables, giveaways, interactive areas, autographs with VFLs and other activities."

Recruiting for 2019 is about to come to an end, as National Signing Day is here. The Tennessee Vols are still pursuing a few key prospects, including some blue-chip talent to fill immediate needs for Jeremy Pruitt.

"Offensive tackle Darnell Wright, the nation’s No. 16 overall prospect, will announce his decision live on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. today.Elsewhere, Tennessee hopes to round out its class with a few surprises, looking to flip 5-star Auburn wideout George Pickens or steal California linebacker Henry To’oto’o at the 11th hour."

Tennessee basketball scored its 17th straight win Tuesday night, beating the Missouri Tigers at home 72-60 in former UT head coach Cuonzo Martin’s return to Knoxville. With the win, the No. 1 Vols improved to 21-9 and 9-0 in the SEC, and the Tigers fell to 11-10 and 2-7 in the SEC. Here’s a bit of what Rick Barnes said after the game.

"“I think you have to give these guys credit, they have done the work and put it in. Now we are getting towards the end of the regular season and we are halfway to the end of conference season. It is only going to get tougher and I think they know that. We have been a really good road team, they really bond and come together.”"

The night before National Signing Day, Tennessee football picked up another walk-on commitment. Fred Orr chose the Vols as a preferred walk-on.

"The 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back is from Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn., and has offers from Air Force and Army."
