5. Getting Grant more involved

Let’s begin by saying we know Grant Williams gets his touches.

The reigning SEC Player of the Year is used over 25 percent of the possessions, however, at times the Vols get away from their inside-out game at the wrong times. I say wrong like it’s affected the outcome of games, the Vols only have one loss on the season, which was in overtime to a healthy Kansas team. But, getting Williams involved more is never a bad idea.

Just look at the game he had against South Carolina where he only scored eight points on 4-for-8 from the floor. It was only the second time all season Williams was held under ten points; the other came at Missouri when he went 1-for-8 from the floor.

Despite scoring just eight points, Williams was able to impact the game in different ways. He finished the South Carolina game with nine rebounds and season-high seven assists with just one turnover.

Williams has always been a fantastic passer out of double teams, and now that he is scoring better than anyone else in the SEC, he’s impossible to guard.

Vols should look to Williams early and often. Even if he isn’t scoring the basketball, he’s proved he will always make the right play.
