The Tennessee Lady Vols will face the Missouri Tigers for the second time this season. Here is our preview for the women’s basketball Volunteers’ road game.

With four wins in five games, the Tennessee Lady Vols are fighting to firmly get back into the NCAA Tournament. They had a good start last Thursday by completing a sweep of the Auburn Tigers, but they need a few more quality wins to get off the bubble.

Sunday provides a great chance at one of those quality wins. Holly Warlick’s team visits Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers, the same team that beat the Lady Vols in Knoxville a little over a month ago to start their six-game losing streak.

At 19-7 and 8-4 in the SEC, Mizzou is coming off a gigantic road win over the No. 5 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. Tennessee, meanwhile, is 16-8 and 5-6 in the SEC and lost to Mississippi State just last Sunday by 28 points. However, it’s worth noting that Evina Westbrook was not playing in that game. She should be in the lineup Sunday. Here is all the information you need for this match-up.

Tennessee Lady Volunteers at Missouri Tigers

When: Sunday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. E.T.

Where: Mizzou Arena; Columbia, Mo.

TV: ESPN2

Live Stream: Watch ESPN

Given last month’s result in Knoxville and what Mizzou just did to Mississippi State, the Tigers are clearly the favorite in this game. They’re riding the wave of a three-game winning streak that also includes a huge win over the Texas A&M Aggies, another top 25 team in the SEC. It’s worth noting that they haven’t lost at home in conference play either.

Right now, Mizzou is No. 25 in the RPI, while UT is No. 54. That makes this a huge game for the Tennessee Lady Vols and almost a must win. If they don’t they’ll have to find a way to split one of their next two games, at the Texas A&M Aggies and then at home against the South Carolina Gamecocks, two other top 25 RPI teams.

Losing all three pretty much eliminates them from NCAA Tournament talk unless they make a run in conference play. Winning one of three keeps them on the bubble with a favorable chance of getting in, and winning two of the next three, the ideal scenario, likely guarantees them a spot in the tournament. As a result, Sunday is a big game and a big opportunity no matter what.
