3. Swept the Gamecocks

The Gamecocks were the third victim to lose the season series to the Vols. The first matchup saw a 22 point South Carolina loss despite Chris Silva’s double-double performance. Silva shot 5-for-10 from the field, including 12-for-16 from the free throw line. He ended up scoring 28 points and pulling down ten rebounds.

  • The second matchup was much of the same, leading to a 12 point victory for Tennessee. However, they still gave up big numbers to Chris Silva.

Maybe, Silva is just a baller, but the Vols can’t stop the other team’s star which could be a problem in tournament play.

However, Admiral Schofield was the star of the game scoring 21 points on 7-for-15 from the field with ten rebounds. Jordan Bowden added 16 points off the bench on 4-for-6 from the three-point line.

Believe it or not, that wasn’t even the best shooting display from the game. South Carolina’s Tre Campbell shot a perfect 5-for-5 from deep to lead the Gamecocks to over 60 percent from behind the arc.

South Carolina shot over 60 percent from deep on 14-for-23, while Tennessee shot 9-for-20.

Tennessee won both games by a combined 34 points, and neither game really felt like it was close. It was a great way to begin a week that included a loss to Kentucky which we hit on next.
