Tennessee football still has many needs to fill for its future. Here are five players in the transfer portal Jeremy Pruitt and the Volunteers should target.

Recruiting season is over for Tennessee football, and the Vols are now looking forward to spring practice. However, it’s now transfer season, and Jeremy Pruitt and UT should not sit on the sideline while this is going on.

Despite the need to trim their roster, the Vols should be looking at players in the NCAA Transfer Portal, which 247Sports is keeping tabs on here. After all, their No. 12 ranked recruiting class shored up some key needs, but it still left some holes for 2019 specifically and the future.

Certain transfers could fix both of those. Tennessee football already has some of its own players transferring, as Eli Wolf has joined the Georgia Bulldogs and Drew Richmond and Austin Smith are both in the transfer portal.

Why not go for some key guys from other programs out on the open market? After all, nobody is going to feel sad poaching Pruitt and the Vols for players. So they should be doing the same thing, and that’s what we’ll address here.

In this post, we’ve found five transfer players that the Vols should target. These are players who specifically fill needs on Rocky Top, have a certain level of talent to boost the play of a unit, and have some sort of solid enough connection that make them gettable.

The need could be filled immediately or two years down the road. Either way, these guys would be great additions for the Vols. They already have defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon from the Michigan Wolverines and defensive back DeAngelo Gibbs from the Georgia Bulldogs.

A few more new guys certainly will help out. They could add to the depth that the program lacked last year. So let’s find out who they are. These are five players in the NCAA transfer portal that Tennessee football should target immediately.
