The Tennessee basketball team is coming off another loss, and this time it hurts them in the latest bracketology from Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm.

The LSU Tigers took down the Tennessee basketball team last Saturday in a top-15 showdown in Baton Rouge. The loss gives the Vols their second in three games, of course, the other being at Rupp Arena against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Now sitting at 24-3 on the season, Tennessee still has the opportunity to win a regular season SEC Title if they can take care of business in the final four games.

However, they did take a hit in their seeding for the NCAA Tournament from both Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm. We got you covered below.

As always we want to keep you up to date with all the latest bracketology, and we begin with ESPN’s Joe Lunardi’s projections which were updated February 25, 2019. You can find the entire bracket projection here.

Joe Lunardi

What does Joe really know?

I kid, Lunardi is usually pretty close on his projections year after year. For the first time in a handful of weeks, Tennessee is no longer a number one see. Lundari’s one seeds are Duke, Virginia, Gonzaga, and Kentucky.

Kentucky!

The Vols move down and grab the number two seed in the South region. The top four of the South look like this: Virginia (1), Tennessee (2), Purdue (3), and Maryland (4).

Here is a look at the South bracket.

1. Virginia vs. 16. Iona/Norfolk State

8. Auburn vs. 9. Texas

5. Iowa State vs. 12. Utah State/Seton Hall

4. Maryland vs. 13. Murray State

6. Louisville vs. 11. UCF

3. Purdue vs. 14. Texas State

CBS Sport’s Jerry Palm’s latest update was February 26, 2019. You can find the entire bracket projection here.

Like Lunardi, Palm has the Vols as a two seed in the South region and again with Virginia leading the way. The other one seeds according to Palm are Gonzaga, Duke, and Kentucky. The top four seeds of the South region looks like this: Virginia (1), Tennessee (2), Texas Tech (3), and Purdue (4).

Oh no, not Sister Jean again. Actually, that might be a good game for the Vols. They will be out for revenge.

dark. Next. Why Yves Pons needs to be in the starting lineup

Tennessee is steady on the two line but a few more losses and dare I say they could fall even further? The good news with that is only twice in the KenPom era (2002-Present), has a two seed won the NCAA Tournament.
