  • If there’s another area where Tennessee football will need immediate help outside of wide receiver, it’s at edge rusher. Darrell Taylor is going to be a senior in 2019, and nobody else is a proven player for that position, which is where Jeremy Pruitt gives players a chance to shine.

Lucky for them, they have a guy like Tyler Baron right in their backyard as well. A four-star strongside defensive end, Baron comes right out of Knoxville Catholic High School just like the other prospects.

Simply put, there’s plenty of talent to get from there this year. And Baron is a four-star standing at 6’4″ 250 pounds. The big thing he provides is versatility, as Pruitt and Derrick Ansley will likely be able to shift him around from up on the line to outside linebacker.

Considering where the Vols need help, Baron would be a great pickup either way. But he would especially help on the line, where they have no proven depth at the one defensive end spot even for this year.

Simply put, Baron brings options. And he’s an incredible talent who fills a pretty solid need from the city where the Vols play. As a result, Pruitt and co. have no reason not to go after him as much as they possibly can.
