Again, you can never have enough depth on your offensive line. As a result, Tennessee football needs to be going for even more offensive linemen this year despite a historically great class in 2019 with five commitments, including three four-stars and a five-star.

For 2020, the Vols have a local guy who would be a perfect fit for them. Cooper Mays is a three-star lineman from Knoxville Catholic High School. He is part of a strong class of elite talent in East Tennessee this year, and Jeremy Pruitt needs to take advantage.

At 6’3″ 272 pounds, Mays definitely needs to put on more weight. Doing that would likely make him a four-star. The good news is he has time to put on that weight, and it’s worth noting that he is also a seasoned center.

That’s a big deal for the Vols, who won’t have any proven centers in two years. Right now, they only have Brandon Kennedy and Ryan Johnson as guys with experience. Kennedy, though, didn’t even play for the Vols this past year. If they get a commitment from Mays, his experience at center could immediately put him in the rotation and 2020 and have him starting in 2021.
